WHISKERS OF THE WEEK

Week of August 6, 2023 - Malone

Malone is our Whiskers of the Week!

Malone is a handsome and sweet gray tabby kitten, around 10 months old. He arrived at SCAC as a stray on June 27. Malone is extremely affectionate and loves to be held and petted. Unfortunately, it is believed that Malone has Cerebellar Hypoplasia (CH) or wobbly cat syndrome. CH is a neurological disorder that causes sudden jerky movements, uncoordinated motion, and loss of balance. CH is not contagious or painful, and it will not worsen as Malone ages. While there is no cure or treatment, a cat with cerebellar hypoplasia can live a normal life with a normal lifespan. Most overcome their limitations and find their own way to navigate their world. If you are interested in adopting Malone, we recommend having a conversation with your veterinarian about CH. Malone will go home with you neutered, microchipped, and vaccinated appropriate to age (for only $25 during the current SCAC Adoption Special!). He is negative for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia Virus (FeLV). He is waiting for you at Sangamon County Animal Control in Springfield, IL.
