Adopting from SCAC is now even easier!

Good news! The Sangamon County Animal Control adoption application is now available in a fillable electronic format, and your completed application can be submitted via email or fax! Or bring your completed app with you when you come in to meet our purrfectly pawesome available felines!

Adopt a Shelter Cat

Whether you take home a kitten or an adult cat who is looking for a second chance at their forever home, every adoption saves two lives - the fur baby you take home, and the fur baby you've helped make room for. Adopting from a shelter is also economical! See the chart below for a breakdown and comparison of accepting a “free” kitten or adopting from a shelter. The value of adopting is clear. Also note that this graphic is a few years old and all of the costs listed on the left have increased, while adoption fees at Sangamon County Animal Control & Adoption Center have actually been reduced. It's currently just $50 to adopt a kitten or adult cat up to age 4. Meow Mobile further discounts all cats at least 5 years old to just $25 each.
